Tomato cream pasta with blackened chicken

Tomato Cream Pasta

Tomato Cream Pasta

A quick and easy pasta dish that you can add a protein to if you desire. I have seen this dish on sites many times and decided to give it a try. It has become one of our go to dishes when we want a fast and flavorful meal.

Ingredients are pretty simple. The base of the meal is the sauce which is made from an 8 ounce can of tomato sauce, a cup of cream and some pasta. To add more flavor to it we saute onions and garlic in some butter and olive oil and then add fresh basil and parsley at the end. Most often we blacken some chicken to add to the pasta, but have used homemade andouille sausage and ground beef.

Method:
If you only want to dirty one pan first saute your protein, remove and set aside then in the same pan saute some diced onions on a lower heat to sweat them a bit. Add some finely chopped garlic a minute or so before you add the tomato sauce and cream. We have switched to table cream to reduce the fat content and it still tastes just as good. On a medium heat simmer the sauce down till it gets to the thickness you desire. Since basil is a bit delicate I add it right at the end before mixing in the pasta and cut up protein.

It is a very satisfying and quick meal that can be easily modified sure to please.

I was look for a simple pasta recipe where I could add chicken and I was tried of alfredo sauce. This recipe is quick and tasty with fewer pans to wash. It's perfect for someone working an 9-5 job.

Sounds like a satisfying, tasty dinner. Nice caramelization of sugars there on the chicken.
Think I'll try this.
Thanks.
