Cheese stuffed Burger

by Pat
(Leipsic, Ohio)

Divide your normal amount of burger patty meat in half. Make 2 thinner patties out of the meat. Take a slice of american cheese and fold over twice so you have a 4-layer little square of cheese. Place the cheese in the center of one patty and top with the other meat patty. Carefully go around the edges and seal well, or the cheese will run out during cooking and leave you with an empty hole in the middle. Don't be rough when you flip as you could cause a leak and lose the cheesy cargo.

The kids love this and think it's incredibly cool.

Be sure to let the burger cool a little longer than usual or you'll burn yourself on the lava flow of cheese.

I suppose if you want a "healthy" burger, you could pack alfalfa sprouts or some other similarly ridiculous item into the middle. Of course, your kids won't eat yours, and will love mine.
